This exercise is youropportunity to apply your learning. Please relate your observations to theconcepts we discuss. The exercise is simple. First, focuson two religious groups of interest. Second, interview a believer from each groupIhighly suggest focusing on the concepts were reading about and discussing inour assignments in your questionsand take notes of their answers. Third,attend at least one meeting (social or worshipworship services are NOT required)sponsored by each group and take notes. Finally, write a paper of at least 3full pages of text that shows what youhave learned AND applies yourobservations to at least three key concepts were discussing in this course.Please note that the better you apply the concepts, the better chance you haveof earning the full 30 points. So your questions could include,for instance: What do you believe? How do you become religious or a part ofyour religion? How did you personally choose to join your religious group? Whatis the role of women and minorities in your religious group? How do you see thefuture of your religion in America and the world? IMPORTANT: Please do NOT simply give me atranscript of what your interviewees said to you OR a research paper aboutone or two religions that doesnt show you actually talked to anyone. Neither willbe given credit! Instead, please insightfully report what you observed and learnedfrom your meetings and interviews in terms of the concepts weve beendiscussing in this class.Three cautions: 1) Be sensitive and respectful as youconduct your interview and/or attend the meeting(s), and please do NOT do orask anything that is or could be disturbing or offensive to the individuals orgroups of believers. 2) In your report, please protect the privacy of the people you interview and do NOT use theirreal names. 3) Your report must be factual and analytical as well as focused onrelevant class concepts; avoid unfounded opinions and especially harshjudgment.I am still undecided on which two religions to do but which ever tutor bids I am open to suggestions being that you will be doing the assignment.
